The provincial election is fast approaching on February 27, 2025, and your voice and vote are needed to make a better future possible for your Mississauga neighbours who are experiencing food insecurity.

Here are some resources you can use to prepare for the upcoming election:

  • Visit Feed Ontario’s platform tracker for information on each of the four major parties’ platforms and read more about how you can use your vote to advocate for your neighbours in need.
  • The City of Mississauga launched their Mississauga Matters campaign. Find out who’s running in your riding and learn more about your candidates.
  • Visit the Elections Ontario website and using your postal code, search where your electoral district is and where you need to go to vote. Plus, information on advance voting, accessible voting, what ID to bring and more.

Governments at all levels have neglected poverty and food insecurity which has amplified a systemic issue. Every year Food Banks Mississauga and food bank organizations across Ontario are forced to increase their capacity because the government is not prioritizing appropriate investment in social assistance programs to support vulnerable folks and make it so they don’t have to rely on a food bank.

To ensure Mississauga is a food-secure community for tomorrow, Food Banks Mississauga implores you to review the platforms of provincial parties and vote for representatives who pledge to address poverty and food insecurity.
