- Is there a minimum age requirement?
We welcome volunteers as young as 9 years of age if accompanied by an adult. The minimum age to volunteer independently is 14. Some roles may require volunteers to be at least 18 years old so be sure to read through all qualifications. Explore all of our open positions here.
- Where will I be volunteering?
Unless specified, you will volunteer at Food Banks Mississauga: 4544 Eastgate Parkway, Mississauga, ON, L4W 3W6.
- Can I volunteer as a group?
Yes, there are two group volunteer options! You can volunteer with co-workers as part of the Corporate Volunteering Program or with your faith group, school group, or recreational sports team as a Community Group. Community and Corporate Groups must book their shifts at least 2-3 months in advance. If you would like to volunteer as a group of friends, please sign up as individuals and book the same shift.
- Do I need to donate to volunteer?
While we welcome donations, you don’t need to donate to volunteer as an individual or as a Community Group. For the Corporate Volunteering Program, we ask for a minimum donation of $1,000.Thank you for your generosity and willingness to make a difference.
- Can I bring a food and/or monetary donation when I volunteer?
Yes, we welcome all donations! Please speak to our front desk receptionist if you wish to make a monetary donation (both cash and credit card are accepted) and check out our most needed items poster for food donations. You can also donate online anytime!
- I previously signed up to volunteer as an individual. How can I access available shifts and other volunteer opportunities?
You can find all the information you need on your My Impact profile. Log in to your account and view the Opportunity List. New shifts are posted twice a month and fill up quickly! For all other FAQs for volunteers, you can refer to this document here.
