We’re excited to introduce our Capacity Building Fund.
Here at The Mississauga Food Bank, we partner with an incredible network of over 50 agencies, big and small — including neighbourhood food banks, food pantries, meal and snack programs, and other emergency food programs all across our community.
Between the pandemic and inflation, many of our agencies have faced a surge in demand for their services while also managing rising costs.
With your help, we do everything we can to support them so they can best serve the people who rely on them. A big part of that is providing fresh, nutritious food. But now, there’s a brand new way that your generosity is helping.
You help our agencies best serve their communities
The Capacity Building Fund was launched in early 2022 to help our agencies address gaps in their programs and service delivery, so they can meet the growing and evolving needs of the people who rely on them.
Making a difference across Mississauga
This new fund enables our agencies to serve people more effectively and efficiently. Here are just a few ways your support is helping to better feed hungry neighbours:
• St. Mary’s Food Bank, Dundas, purchased a larger fridge and freezer so they can stock more food for the growing number of neighbours relying on them.
• Sakeenah Homes purchased a freezer to serve Halal meat at their market, build a ramp for wheelchair accessibility, and add shopping carts to improve the experience at the market for their clients.
• ICNA Pantry is purchasing new computers to replace their outdated technology, allowing them to better track their inventory and client needs.
• House of Praise and Prayer purchased more culturally appropriate food to best meet the needs and preferences of their clients.
The bottom line? Your generosity reaches across our entire community, helping our hard-working agencies ramp up their capacity in the ways that best meet the unique needs of their clients. Thank you for being a part of this important new initiative!
