Tim Hortons Smile Cookies Are Back!

100% of proceeds raised in Mississauga will go to Food Banks Mississauga and Community Living Mississauga

Food Banks Mississauga Food Bank is partnering with Tim Hortons Restaurant Owners of Mississauga for the fourth year as a joint recipient of the annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign taking place April 29 – May 5, 2024. Last year in Mississauga, $212,158.90 was raised in Tim Hortons restaurants across the city. As one of two local charitable partners for the Smile Cookie campaign, Food Banks Mississauga will be sharing funds raised with returning beneficiary, Community Living Mississauga.

“Last year, the Smile Cookie Campaign nationally raised a record-breaking $19.7 million across Canada going to local charities, hospitals, and community groups across Canada that provide crucial services for their communities,” said Jason McLennan, Franchise Owner, Tim Hortons. “We are excited and proud to partner with Food Banks Mississauga and Community Living Mississauga to help give back to the communities we serve.”

The month of March saw the highest number of food bank users ever in the history of Food Banks Mississauga, with 19,342 food bank users – a 20% increase compared to the previous year.

“Every month, we are experiencing this record-breaking demand which is why support from partners like Tim Hortons is needed more than ever to help neighbours living with food insecurity,” says Meghan Nicholls, CEO of Food Banks Mississauga. “We used to serve 19,000 food bank users in an entire year, and we’re now seeing that many neighbours in need in one month. The funds raised from this year’s Smile Cookie campaign will go to support Food Banks Mississauga as we and our network of 65+ agency members try and meet this rising, urgent need for food across the city.”

Smile Cookies are available for purchase in participating restaurants from April 29 – May 5, 2024. Each cookie costs $1.50 (plus tax), and 100% of proceeds raised in our community will support Food Banks Mississauga and Community Living Mississauga.

“Community Living Mississauga is very fortunate to have such a longstanding relationship with Tim Hortons owners across our city,” said Keith Tansley, Executive Director at Community Living Mississauga. “We want to say thanks to them, as well as everyone who buys Smile Cookies, on behalf of the hundreds of children and youth who have an intellectual disability who have been able to connect with their community through our summer recreational programs thanks to the funds raised by this campaign.”

The community is encouraged to pre-order bulk Smile Cookies by downloading the order form and getting more details at www.foodbanksmississauga.ca/smile-cookie.
