With Thanksgiving just around the corner, what are you grateful for? The passing of piled-high plates to the people you love most. Gratitude, knowing everyone around the table is safe, warm, and well. The joy that comes from hosting family and friends and celebrating the traditions we share.
But many of our neighbours aren’t feeling that way. Mealtime is a source of stress and uncertainty, instead of comfort and connection.
And feeling that pressure are neighbours like Kat*. A hardworking mom who does her very best to provide for her two sons, Michael and Matthew. But as a personal trainer, her income is unpredictable month to month. And with food and rent costs at an all-time high, there’s barely any breathing room.
“Rent takes up 60% of our income,” she shares. “Then food… it’s insane now. And with two teens in the house…They eat so much, it’s crazy. It’s hard to keep up, to be honest.”
Thankfully, neighbours like Kat can count on your support. It means mealtimes can be a source of comfort. Whether it’s a senior getting nutritious food delivered to their door with a smile, a child opening up a lunch box packed full of healthy snacks, or a family like Kat’s.
Instead of worrying about how she’ll pay next month’s rent or whether she can afford to buy new winter boots for her fast-growing boys, Kat will be able to make lasting memories around the table with her family.
“That little bit of relief really helps my family. Thank you so much.”
