Meet Ally Cardona, Volunteer Receptionist
Today we are shining the spotlight on Ally Carmona, one of our Volunteer Receptionists!
Ally started volunteering at The Mississauga Food Bank in May. She was researching different ways to get involved in serving her community and found the The Mississauga Food Bank. “I choose to volunteer at the food bank because I believe that having the capacity to help those in need is a gift. ”
Ally loves that her volunteer role allows her to see firsthand the impact of donations and community support. “Volunteering makes me feel like I am making meaningful contributions to the community and enacting positive change. Speaking to clients, donors and staff on a daily basis have shown me the impact that The Mississauga Food Bank has on so many lives. During my first few weeks, a supporter came in to donate over $1000. This was the first time I’d been a part of such a large donation, so I excitedly asked him what prompted his donation.
He told me he took part in a fundraiser in which he shaved his head in order to raise money for the food bank. He then eagerly asked to take a picture of himself handing me the donation. In that moment, I saw the love and care that he put into this donation and the immense joy. I felt honoured to be able to be a part of the process of putting his donation to good use in feeding our neighbours.”
Ally, thank you, for everything you do here at The Mississauga Food Bank! 🤗 👏
