Introducing today’s Spotlight: Annamaria Battista.
Annamaria’s first volunteer experience at The Mississauga Food Bank was in 2014 as a corporate group volunteer, and she started volunteering on her own in 2016. Since then, she’s had many volunteer roles: food sorter, food sorting leader, Food Bank 2 Home driver, donor ambassador, grocery store fundraising lead and special events (wow!!).
Volunteering at The Mississauga Food Bank makes Annamaria feel worthy, knowing that she is making a difference in helping neighbours in need.
“No one in our community should have to go without food. Food is a necessity like the clothes we wear. There should not be a choice of having to put food on the table or paying bills and rent.”
Annamaria is able to see the impact she’s making in real-time,
“Each time I see us packing away a skid full of food on our shelves, I know that these boxes will be going to our agencies to help feed their clients.”
The dedication and commitment of volunteers like Annamaria makes our work possible. Thank you, Annamaria, for your years of contribution and all that you do for our community!
