It’s time to shine the spotlight on one of our Hunger Warriors fundraising teams!
The congregation at Dixie Presbyterian Church has supported Food Banks Mississauga for the last eight years with their fund and food-raising efforts. Every Spring, they participate in the annual Mississauga Scouts Food Drive, where they join various scout groups in the Erin Mills community to collect donations for Food Banks Mississauga. This Holiday season, the Church congregation is raising funds by signing up to be Hunger Warriors and creating their own personalized fundraising campaign. The generous monetary donations will ensure neighbours in Mississauga can access fresh and nutritious food as we enter the new year!
“We really appreciate how Food Banks Mississauga supports all our neighbours who are in need. At this time of year, we want to show how much we care about our neighbours and so last Christmas and this Christmas too, we decided to also raise funds online for Food Banks Mississauga along with accepting donations of urgently needed food items at this time of year. We are a part of this community and we want everyone in Mississauga to have what they need to feed themselves and their families.”
When asked what they would like to say to those who are also thinking of fundraising, Dixie Presbyterian Church said:
“For us, the reason we are raising funds for Food Banks Mississauga is to help us remember what we believe and to celebrate Christmas. But whatever the reason, whoever you are, giving to feed your neighbours is a wonderful way to show how much you care!”
