For today’s Spotlight, we want you to meet our Agency Relations Coordinator, Rini Thomson Fernandes!
Rini has been a part of The Mississauga Food Bank team for over a year and is an essential part of our Programs team.
Speaking to our food bank community and hearing their stories are a constant source of inspiration and connection for Rini.
“I think the most impactful memory for me was hearing a testimonial from a client who visited a food bank as a child. With time he grew up to be successful in his career and today is a regular donor at The Mississauga Food Bank. The way he spoke about his experiences, how the food bank was a huge support for his family and how he understands the need and value of giving back really touched me.”
To current, new, and potential donors – Rini shares,
“Something I want to emphasize is for our donors to see the need for providing food that is more culturally diverse. Mississauga is a city with a very diverse population, with people from different countries across the globe. Food banks must cater to their diverse food needs so a client doesn’t ever feel like they have to compromise on their food choices when they come into a food bank. Culturally diverse and healthy food options must be prioritized for our clients to ensure they feel dignity when they walk into and out of a food bank.”
Thank you for everything you do here at The Mississauga Food Bank, Rini. We’re so lucky to have you!
