As a ReclaimFRESH volunteer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that neighbours in need have access to fresh and frozen food.

About the role

As a ReclaimFRESH volunteer, you’ll sort fresh and frozen food in the warehouse that’s been collected through our ReclaimFRESH Food Rescue Program.

Responsibilities

  • Learn fresh and frozen food quality and distribution guidelines.

  • Clean and disinfect work area prior to handling food.

  • Determine which of the fresh and frozen food is acceptable to be distributed, and perform quality checks on donated items.

  • Use judgement and reasoning skills to accurately assess food quality and suitability.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the sorting and storage areas on a frequent basis.

Qualifications

Able to lift up to 20+ lbs; you're encouraged to ask for a helping hand as needed!
Able to stand and be active for 2 hours.
Important Consideration: For those with food allergies, please be advised you will be potentially exposed to all types of food.
Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes such as boots or running shoes; no high heels, Crocs, slippers, etc.
Reliable and punctual.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team with a positive attitude.
Experience or knowledge of handling food products considered an asset.
