With the leaves starting to change and the air getting crisp, I’ve been thinking about how our community is always here for hungry neighbours—no matter the season, and no matter what challenges we face.
This spring, you raised over $237,000 and 133,000 pounds of food to fight hunger in our community by supporting our Spring Food Drive. And during the month of Ramadan, you raised over $80,000 and 15,000 pounds of food to feed families through our Give 30 campaign.
Over the summer, you made sure that no child went hungry during a year that was tougher than ever for families. (You can read more inside about how you kept kids happy, healthy, and
growing strong!)
And through every long, challenging month of the pandemic, you demonstrated that Mississauga always takes care of its own, no matter how tough things get.
I’m so grateful for your support. I hope you were able to join us on June 2 for our first-ever Virtual Supporter Appreciation event. If you couldn’t attend, please take the time to watch it here. And now, you’ll be able to read even more about your life-changing impact in our 2 in 1 Face of Hunger Annual Impact Report that launched in September.
As Thanksgiving nears, I know that you’ll continue to be there for neighbours who are hungry. Because every family, every senior, every neighbour deserves to have wholesome, nutritious food on their table—over the holidays, and every day of the year.
Please help us make Mayor Crombie’s 2021 Thanksgiving Food Drive a great success this fall by helping reach our goal of raising $400,000 and 200,000 pounds of food. There are so many ways to get involved: give generously, organize a food drive in your neighbourhood, and join us for a fun family-friendly event on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at The Mississauga Food Bank for our Contactless Drive-Thru Food Drive.
Thank you once again for everything you do to ensure that everyone in Mississauga has the fresh, nutritious food they need all year long.
With my heartfelt thanks,
Meghan Nicholls
