When you picture “The Mississauga Food Bank,” what do you see? You may envision one great big warehouse, especially if you’ve seen our central distribution centre on Universal Drive.

Here’s what you may not know:

By partnering with us, you’re supporting a network of over 50 neighbourhood food banks, food pantries, shelters, and other community agencies all across Mississauga.

And here’s why that’s amazing:

You’re giving us power in numbers:

By supporting our role as a central hub, you help us buy nutritious food in bulk on behalf of our smaller agencies. Then, you help us send it all across the city to where it’s needed most. The result? Lower costs for everyone and more nutritious food going straight to hungry neighbours.

You’re breaking down barriers to nutritious food:

Many of the people we serve struggle to access fresh, nutritious food—whether they have mobility issues, a disability, or another reason keeping them homebound. Thanks to your support, our widespread agency network ensures that anyone can access nutritious food when and where they need it, no matter where they live in Mississauga.

You’re helping people from all walks of life in so many different ways:

• You’re providing nutritious, culturally appropriate food to newcomers to Canada through partners like the Mississauga Muslim Community Centre.

• You’re giving vulnerable children nourishing meals and snacks through community breakfast and lunch programs like Arbour Mill Breakfast Club.

• You’re feeding young people who are experiencing homelessness, trauma, and abuse at shelters like Our Place Peel.

• You’re teaching parents how to prepare nutritious meals for their families through programs like Nourishing Communities at the MIAG Centre for Diverse Women and Families.

On behalf of our partner agencies and the people they serve every day, thank you for being there for neighbours in need all across Mississauga!
