Orlando Corporation Matches Year-End Donations up to $150,000 for Food Banks Mississauga’s Holiday Drive
Every dollar is more vital than ever as Food Banks Mississauga projects serving double the number of Mississauga residents by 2027
From December 23 to 31, all monetary gifts made to Food Banks Mississauga’s 2024 Holiday Drive will be matched by the Orlando Corporation, up to $150,000. As of December 17, 2024, the campaign has raised over $2.15 million, 86% away from the organization’s largest and unprecedented goal of $2.5 million.
Orlando Corporation is renewing their support during a critical time. With the City of Mississauga declaring a food insecurity emergency, Food Banks Mississauga estimates over 100,000 Mississauga residents will rely on a food bank by 2027, almost double the current number of over 56,000 residents.
“We’re worried the increasing need will soon outpace our capacity. That’s why we’re truly grateful for Orlando Corporation stepping up to support their neighbours in need by matching community donations,” says Meghan Nicholls, CEO of Food Banks Mississauga. “If there is no significant change to current social support policy, by 2027, we expect double the number of people we’re currently serving at food banks – that’s over 100,000 of our neighbours. Every dollar raised, every gift you make is more vital than ever. Let’s not let any of our neighbours go without food this holiday season and beyond.”

Monetary gifts enable Food Banks Mississauga to source fresh and frozen food such as dairy, meat, grains, fruit, and vegetables in bulk at lower prices than retail and to transport and safely store donated food from across the supply chain.
