Food Banks Mississauga’s Holiday Drive Breaks Record and Raises Almost $3.2 Million
Exceeding the largest goal ever set by the organization
Food Banks Mississauga surpassed their 2025 Holiday Drive goal, raising $3,195,507 – the most that the community has ever contributed to a single campaign. The Holiday Drive ran from November 12, 2025, to January 9, 2026, with Orlando Corporation stepping up once again to match year-end donations, up to $150,000. The funds raised will enable Food Banks Mississauga to provide healthy food to residents across the city in 2026 through its network of 60+ food programs.
Setting the $3 million goal – the highest Holiday Drive goal in Food Banks Mississauga’s history – was out of necessity and reflects the growing food insecurity emergency in Mississauga. Last year, Food Banks Mississauga and its food programs saw over 503,000 visits made by neighbours in need. This is more than a 400% increase compared to before the pandemic. With the recently released Canada’s Food Price Report projecting that an average family of four will spend over $17,000 this year on groceries, Food Banks Mississauga is bracing for even more demand for its services as food costs continue to rise.
“Thank you to the generosity of Mississauga residents, who rallied together to help us reach our largest goal ever to help provide immediate relief for neighbours in need. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: we don’t want to keep breaking records. But we have had to increase our campaign goals because that’s the reality of what we’re facing on the ground. More folks in need means more demand for our services, which means we are forced to increase our capacity and raise more resources,” says Meghan Nicholls, CEO of Food Banks Mississauga.
“I’m grateful that our community heeds our call time and again, because they don’t want their neighbours to go hungry. And we will be here, thanks to our community’s support, until the day comes when food banks aren’t needed anymore. Your support means we can ensure folks in need have food today. To decrease poverty and food bank use for tomorrow, I ask you to reach out to your elected officials and push for government policy changes to ensure those who are most vulnerable don’t fall further behind.”
