The Mississauga Food Bank is proud to announce the launch of its first-ever Capacity Building Fund! The Mississauga Food Bank invited agencies in their network to apply for the Capacity Building Fund and is pleased to have awarded grants to successful agencies.
The goal of the Capacity Building Fund is to award funding to agencies to allow for the expansion of programming and services. It is geared towards helping agencies increase the distribution of high-quality food and services to food bank users in Mississauga. It will provide tools and resources for ongoing success and sustainability and allows agencies to receive additional support in order to enhance client service.
Congratulations to the House of Praise and Prayer, ICNA Relief Canada Pantry, Sakeenah Homes, St. Hilary’s Food Cupboard, St. Mary’s Food Bank Coopers, Dundas, and Streetsville locations, and Trinity House of Hope for being the first recipients of the Capacity Building Fund Grant! The Mississauga Food Bank is proud to be a part of your journey.
This year, the agencies received a total of $27,062 from The Mississauga Food Bank through the grant. The funding will be used for the improvement of databases, increase food storage, purchase of equipment and software, support external infrastructure and more.
The goal of the Capacity Building Fund is to assist agencies in strengthening their organizational capacity to achieve one or more of the 5 key deliverables outlined below:
● Increase in pounds of food distributed, or households served
● Increase in client satisfaction with food bank services
● Decrease to the number of client complaints
● More efficient cold chain management and safe food handling
● Strengthening of agency’s positive impact on the lives of clients
