We are thrilled to announce the results of our collaborative Spring Food Drive.

This year, we joined five food banks to raise food and funds for families, kids, and seniors struggling with hunger across the GTA. The goal of the campaign was to raise $1 million and collect 1 million pounds of food.  While the campaign fell short of the $1 million goal, it raised 700,000 pounds more than the food goal.

“The outpouring of food donations this Spring was incredible. It really speaks to the deep desire our communities have to care for our vulnerable neighbours.”

Neil Hetherington, CEO of Daily Bread Food Bank.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the campaign by volunteering, organizing a food drive or fundraiser, or by making a gift of food or funds. The food and funds collected by the spring campaign are vital for Food Banks across the GTA.

“Hunger is with us all year long. We rely on donations from the Spring Food Drive to ensure we can feed the hungry neighbours who turn to us for help in the slower summer months.”

Meghan Nicholls, Executive Director of The Mississauga Food Bank.

As we move into the summer months, food banks see a significant drop in donations as people head off on vacation. Since the overall financial goal of the campaign was not reached, food banks will continue to require cash donations through the summer to purchase and distribute additional food to those who require it. Other GTA Food Banks that participated in the drive include: Daily Bread Food Bank, Feed the Need in Durham, The Food Bank of York Region, Knights Table, and North York Harvest Food Bank. The campaign was generously sponsored by Scotts Miracle-Gro Canada and Star Metroland Media.
