Last month, Henna turned 25 and decided to celebrate her birthday with a fundraiser for Food Banks Mississauga! On her personalized Hunger Warriors fundraising page, Henna wrote: “Through this initiative, I seek to raise awareness of those facing food insecurity. Your contribution and support towards creating change would be greatly appreciated as we collectively celebrate my birthday with a meaningful gesture for our community.”
We asked Henna why she chose Food Banks Mississauga as the recipient of her fundraising efforts. She said:
“I wanted to fundraise for Food Banks Mississauga to bring awareness to local food insecurity within our community. As you all know we have all gone through a lot in the last couple of years, like COVID, personal hardships, and now within our community inflation has caused an increase of food insecurity. This campaign was called Create for Change. I believe we are the creators of our future. We are the future generation. And we are the change and inspiration that the community needs to overcome this growing hunger crisis.”
Why should others consider fundraising?
“Sometimes we don’t always know what others are going through, but even the smallest gesture can really change someone’s life. I hope that we can continue to pay it forward together. I encourage everyone to continue to lend a helping hand for those in need.”
