For today’s Spotlight, we want you to meet our Volunteer Programs Specialist, Meg Musy!
Meg has been a part of the People and Culture team since June 2023, and her role is all about our volunteers! She helps folks who are looking to volunteer and ensures every role is filled, keeps track of data, and strives to ensure volunteers feel appreciated for the amazing work they do for Food Banks Mississauga.
Meg loves being able to make a difference where it is needed and was inspired to work at Food Banks Mississauga because of the vital work that the organization is doing to help so many people in Mississauga. She admits that she didn’t realize the extent of how much need there was in Mississauga, saying: “Before I started working here, I had no idea just how much of the Mississauga population was affected by food insecurity.”
When asked what the most rewarding part of her job is, Meg replied that it’s “working with such amazing volunteers. It is so rewarding to see people who are so passionate and enthusiastic to help their neighbours. So far my most impactful memory has been working during the youth days we had scheduled during March break. It was so great to see so many youth in the community come and help us make a difference. The energy that the youth brought was so infectious and so wonderful to see.”
Surprisingly, the most challenging part of Meg’s role at Food Banks Mississauga is finding volunteering shifts for everyone who wants one! “We have a fantastic group of volunteers, and I wish they could all volunteer with us whenever they wanted!”
Meg shares that the work of Food Banks Mississauga wouldn’t be possible without our amazing donors and volunteers. “Everything they are able to provide goes to a bigger cause. We so appreciate all of the hard work and dedication that folks are able to provide!”
