Today we are shining the spotlight on two of our incredible food sorting lead volunteers, Renata and her son Johnny!
Renata and Johnny joined The Mississauga Food Bank because they wanted to help their community and felt inspired by other volunteers!
“I have seen volunteers collecting donations and distributing bags at my local grocery stores. Also, a friend of mine shared a personal story about how her local food bank saved her and her daughter’s life years ago, and it really moved me.”
After learning more about food insecurity and how their support is changing lives every day, Renata and Johnny decided to become monthly donors and collect food donations to continue supporting the food bank in other meaningful ways.
“We reached out to family, friends and neighbours to encourage them to make a donation and/or support our Food Drive. We have dropped off 1,535 pounds of food and baby formula so far! We are so grateful we can help the community this way. We will continue to do this as long as we can. This is very important for our family and when people find out, they want to be a part of it too.”
Renata and Johnny, thank you for all you do here at The Mississauga Food Bank! Your hard work and dedication are an inspiration to our entire team.
