During Asian and South Asian Heritage Month, we are sharing the stories of leaders in our community, team members, and Asian & South Asian-led organizations that we at The Mississauga Food Bank are proud to work with.

Meet Vipin Saini, Executive Director at Seva Food Bank!

As the Executive Director, Vipin oversees the day-to-day operations and teams of two locations and growing community partnerships. He has been involved with the organization for over a decade. “From a young age, I saw the impacts of food insecurity on children as well as adults and it had a profound impact on me. Seva’s key values align with my own as a practising Sikh, and I reached a point in my life where I felt the need to do something about the food insecurity I witnessed as a child. I began volunteering with Seva 10 years ago, joined their board of directors 4 years ago, and have been Executive Director for 2 months.”

For Vipin, Asian & South Asian leaders bring their own insights and experiences to leadership roles. “Representation matters and leaves a lasting impact on future generations. We need the future generations to know that they are capable of being successful leaders in any industry.”

Vipin has a special message for all of those who struggle to get by and need the support of food banks across the city. “We are here to support YOU! Not just with food, we have pathways to assist you in other areas of your life. Partnerships with agencies across Peel that address employment, settlement, housing, mental health, and any other social service that allows our clients to access so much more than just food.”

Vipin, thank you for everything you do for your community!
