Food insecurity has been declared an emergency by the City of Mississauga, with Mayor Parrish and City Councillors passing a motion to make this declaration on November 13, 2024. Food Banks Mississauga now provides food support to 1 in 13 Mississauga residents, up from 1 in 37 in 2019 and the need is only rising.
In response to this declaration, the Mississauga Foundation responded with immediate action to support neighbours living with food insecurity. Not only have they donated $10,000 to provide food support to neighbours in need today, they also set up two ways for supporters to make short and long-term gifts through the Mississauga Foundation.
- Launching an Emergency Flow-Through Fund: Donations to this fund will go directly to food security programs, ensuring immediate and impactful relief. Donate now.
- Building Long-Term Solutions: The newly created Mississauga Emergency Food Security Fund will provide sustainable funding to food security initiatives for years to come. Invest in the Mississauga Endowed Food Security Fund to help build a more food-secure future. Learn more and donate.
It’s only through collective action that we can make the greatest impact to help our neighbours and we are grateful to have the Mississauga Foundation stand alongside us.
