Enjoy Free, Family-Friendly Fun This Summer in Mississauga!

Rising costs don’t have to put a pause on your summer plans! Mississauga is full of vibrant, free activities that make it easy to enjoy the season with your loved ones. From weekly movie nights under the stars and free outdoor concerts to cultural festivals and ongoing programs you can register for, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re exploring local parks, enjoying community events, or diving into the city’s rich cultural offerings, you can make the most of summer without breaking the bank. We’ve rounded up some of the best events and experiences to help you celebrate the season in true Mississauga style.

 

Canada Day Events

Canada Day #INThePort

Celebrate Canada Day with fireworks, fun and a Ferris wheel #INThePort! The Canada Day #INThePort festival, presented by Visit Mississauga, will transform Port Credit into a bustling street party. Enjoy live music, street performers, food vendors, and family-friendly activities and a kids’ zone with engaging activities, all leading up to a stunning fireworks finale.

Fireworks at Celebration Square

Come out on July 1, 2025 (4:00 pm – 10:30 pm) at Celebration Square for live music from Connor Price, Anjulie, The Free Label, Cirque Revolution aerial shows, 25+ food trucks, family fun zones, and DJ ELEV8—culminating in a fireworks grand finale presented by Tim Hortons at 10 pm. Don’t miss the splash parties, storytimes, and stilt walkers!

Ongoing Free Activities

To participate in the following ongoing free activities, you must sign up online or borrow a pass.

Visit the Peel Art Gallery

With a Mississauga Public Library card, you can get a “PAMA Family General Admission Pass” that allows free admission to the Peel Art Gallery for you and your family (up to 2 adults and 5 children).

Explore Mississauga’s Natural Beauty

With a Mississauga Public Library card, you can borrow a pass to visit the Credit Valley Conservation area or any Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) parks for free. TRCA Parks include the Black Creek Pioneer Village, Bruce’s Mill Conservation Park, Heart Lake Conservation Park, and more! You can also get an Ontario Parks Pass to access and visit over 100 provincial parks for free.

Discover Egyptian History in Mississauga

Learn all about Egyptian history at the Egyptian Museum. Families with children under six can visit the Egyptian Museum for free. Plus, take advantage of the 50% discount for tickets, which means they’re only $10 each.

Explore Language, Identity & Art in Mississauga

Experience the power of language and cultural identity at My Mother’s Tongue, a free art exhibition at the Art Gallery of Mississauga. My Mother’s Tongue looks at this silencing of different cultures, from South Korea and Canada through to South Africa and Pakistan. Through different artistic mediums, it exposes the exploitation and incarceration of people’s multi-dimensional identities.

Sauga Summer Pass

Teens aged 12–16 can ride MiWay, swim, and access fitness centres for free this summer with the Sauga Summer Pass—available June 27th to September 1st.

Bike around the city for free

Explore Mississauga on two wheels during free guided community rides held on select Saturdays across the city from May – October 2025. All rides begin at 10 AM and include free refreshments. Join Mississauga’s Bike Challenge by logging your rides–every 50 km logged adds a tree to the One Million Trees program. A fun way to stay active and give back!

Swim for free

Cool down with free fun swims at Mississauga’s indoor and outdoor pools! These drop-in swim sessions are perfect for families and youth looking to beat the heat and stay active without spending a cent.

Scheduled Weekly Activities

Wednesdays Evenings: Fresh Air Fitness

From June 4th through September 10th (7 pm – 8 pm), join Fresh Air Fitness at Celebration Square for free, instructor-led outdoor workouts every Wednesday evening. Each session features a new class format—Zumba, Total Body Mix, Yoga, Bollywood, Pilates—so you can mix it up and stay motivated all summer long.

Thursdays to Sundays: A City in Tune

Running April 24th - August 3rd (12 pm – 4 pm), a City in Tune invites you to catch live local and Indigenous musical showcases and interactive performances that reflect the evolving story of Mississauga every Thursday through Sunday.

Thursdays to Sundays: Spirit Seeds

Spirit Seeds is one until August 3rd, Thursdays through Sundays, at Bradley Museum. Curated by Indigenous artist Naomi Smith (Chippewas of Nawash, Neyaashiinigmiing, Ontario), this exhibition presents a rich visual exploration of beadwork from the Woodlands and Great Lakes Regions and present-day examples of the art form. This outdoor exhibit honours Indigenous beadwork, art, culture, and environmental connections through immersive, story-rich installations.

Sunday Family Fun at Benares Historic House

Sunday family fun is live at Benares Historic House every Sunday from noon to 4 pm. Expect crafts, games, storytelling, and drop-in family activities—perfect for kids and parents.

Open Air Storytime

Join the interactive storytelling time every Wednesday morning from July 2nd to August 6th (10:30am –11:15am) at Celebration Square. These library-led sessions feature stories, songs, rhymes, and interactive play—all in the fresh air.

Movie Nights Under the Stars

On Thursday summer evenings from June 19th – September 4th, 2025, Movie Nights will take over Celebration Square! Grab snacks and enjoy family favourites under the open sky. Movies include “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”, “Wicked: Part One” and lots more.

Friday Night Markets in Streetsville Village Square

On the first Friday of each month from June through September, the Streetsville Village Square will host a First Friday in the ‘Ville – a monthly night market. Enjoy art, food, live music, and local crafts exploring your community’s creative spirit.

Salsa in the square

Get ready to dance the night away at Salsa in the Square, happening on select Saturday evenings this summer at Streetsville Village Square. From 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, Omega Latin Dance brings the energy with free beginner-friendly salsa and bachata lessons—no experience needed!

Weekend Festivals & Events

June 27 – 28: Living With Wellness Arts Festival 2025

Celebrate wellness, creativity, and culture at the Living With Wellness Arts Festival 2025. This full-day event is packed with family-friendly experiences designed to nourish your body, mind, and spirit—right in the heart of Mississauga.

June 29: Sesame Street Live! Say Hello

Catch Sesame Street Live! Say Hello at the Living Arts Centre. It’s a free event featuring beloved characters like Elmo, Abby and Cookie Monster for singing, dancing, and kid-friendly fun.

July 11 – 13: Jackalope Mississauga

If you’re a fan of skateboarding, bouldering, MOTO X and BMX, BASE jumping, and more, check out Jackalope Mississauga at Celebration Square to witness world-class competitions and demonstrations! This event takes place from 5 pm on Friday, July 11th to Sunday, July 13th, and is free for all ages.

July 18 – 20: Mississauga Latin Festival

From Friday, July 18th to Sunday, July 29th, celebrate 17 years of the Mississauga Latin Festival! Celebration Square is the place to go this weekend for all things Latin culture – music and dance, traditional dishes, beautiful crafts, and a children’s area. This event is free for all ages!

July 19 – 20: Mississauga First Nation Traditional Powwow

Mississauga First Nation is hosting its 44th annual traditional powwow on Saturday, July 19th, and Sunday, July 20th, within the Mississauga First Nation territory. Admission is free for all attendees, and everyone is welcome! Individuals from all communities are invited to join in the celebration. July 25 – 26: BollywoodMonster Mashup

The BollywoodMonster Mashup is a free, multi-day South Asian arts festival at Celebration Square from Friday, July 25th to Saturday, July 26th. This free, family-friendly event features international Bollywood stars, music and dance performances, a laser show, and more! This event has free entry, arts and games, and a seniors’ area.

August 1 – 2: Mosaic Festival

Celebrate the richness of South Asian Canadian art, culture, heritage, and cuisine at Celebration Square from Friday, August 1st to Sunday, August 4th. The 20th annual Mosaic Festival is free for all ages and will feature artists from Pakistan, India, USA, and Canada.

August 9: RED FM Summer Bhangra Jam

On Saturday, August 9th, head down to Celebration Square from 12 pm to 11 pm for the RED FM Summer Bhangra Jam! This Punjabi Music Festival features a free concert with international Punjabi superstars, Bhangra performances, food trucks, dancing, shopping, a Kids Zone, fashion shows, a senior lounge, and more. The whole family can enjoy this event with free admission, parking, and arts.

August 15 – 17: Port Credit Busker Fest

The buskers are back from Friday August 15 – Sunday August 17th. Enjoy some of the best street theatre performers from across the globe, and make sure to take the little ones to enjoy the new Kidz Zone. Be prepared for some of the best magic, acrobatics, juggling, hoola hooping, beatboxing, and gut-splitting comedy right on the streets of Port Credit.

August 16 – 17: Japan Festival Canada 2025

Experience the best of Japanese culture, food, and technology at Japan Festival Canada – the largest Japanese cultural event in North America! Located at Celebration Square, the festival takes place from noon to 10 pm on Saturday, August 15th, and from 11 am to 7 pm on Sunday, August 17th – free for all ages.

August 22 – 23: Mississauga Italfest Festival

Mississauga Italfest is Mississauga’s first and premier Italian festival, and was named one of the Top Festivals and Events in Ontario from 2016 to 2025. This free event, located at Celebration Square, starts in the evening of Friday, August 22nd, and lasts until Saturday, August 23rd. With a Kidzone, Heritage Centre, comedy, celebrity chefs and dancers, and international talent – this event is bound to be fun for the whole family!

August 29 – 31: MuslimFest

Celebrate Mississauga’s rich Muslim arts and culture at this 3-day MuslimFest event at Celebration Square! Starting at noon on Friday, August 29th, and continuing until 7 pm on Sunday, August 31st, this event is free for all ages.
