You’re Helping, Exactly When Help is Needed

A message from Meghan

As I look out the window on this blustery wintery day, I’m thinking about the warmth, comfort, and hope you bring to people across Mississauga.

Thanks to you, families were able to gather in bustling kitchens, surrounded by laughter and the smells of cherished family recipes.

Thanks to you, a parent won’t have to skip meals so they can afford to replace their child’s leaky snowboots.

Thanks to you, a senior won’t have to fear falling on the icy sidewalk, because they have nutritious food delivered right to their door. And their heart will be warmed when a volunteer hands them their bag with a smile and a “How are you?”

With your support, and our returning year-end match partner Orlando Corporation, we raised enough money to provide food for close to 3.2 millions meals. This is what your generosity means in our community. This is how you touch people’s lives.

And your support has never been more important. Last year, neighbours walked through the doors of our 60+ food programs over 503,000 times—that’s the most visits EVER in our history.

There is no doubt about it, we couldn’t do what we do without good neighbours like you.

So, on behalf of all of us here at Food Banks Mississauga, and on behalf of every neighbour you’re helping—thank you for being there.

As we look to the year ahead, we are counting on you. While winter will eventually give way to spring, the food insecurity emergency in Mississauga isn’t going anywhere, and our neighbours will need us in the months to come.

Thank you for being there for our neighbours facing food insecurity, and showing them they’ve got a caring community beside them.

With gratitude,

Meghan Nicholls
Chief Executive Officer
